The number of reported rape cases in Singapore has risen over the past year.
Citing the Deputy Public Prosecutor, The New Paper reported that there were 163 rape cases last year, which works out to be one new case every 2-3 days.
This is up from 120 cases in 2013 — an alarming increase of 36%.
The number of statutory rape cases, involving females under the age of 14 years, has also been on the rise: 66 cases were reported last year, up from 51 in 2013.
Let’s all pray that the number of rape cases will fall in our country.
