A Vision of the Condition of the Present-day Church (Rebecca Brown)

This is a prophetic vision given to Daniel Yoder and which was shared by his wife, Rebecca Brown. Yoder and Brown are the founders of the ministry Harvest Warriors.

4-28-16 THE BATTLE

Recently the Lord gave Daniel a powerful vision that we believe should be shared with God’s people.

Daniel was transported in spirit to a great battlefield. Two armies were arrayed face to face, fighting. The one army was made up of Satan’s demons, and the second army was made up of God’s people. The Lord drew Daniel’s attention to several things about the armies and the battle.

First, the armor of God. (Ephesians 6, see below) Very few of the people had the full armor of God on. Most were carrying what looked like wooden swords and cardboard shields. Most had heads too big to be able to put on the Helmet of Salvation, so they had no helmets. Their heads were swollen with pride and the things of the world. They had never shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone, and indeed, did no know how to do so. The Helmet of Salvation helps you to have single mindedness about loving and serving the Lord. (2 Timothy 2:1-4, see below) The Helmet also helps us to keep our minds pure and committed to the Lord. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, see below) Most had swollen heads because of what they had been taught and saw in their leaders who taught them only the doctrine of health and wealth and that no demon or curse could touch them, thus no need for spiritual warfare.

Many of the women were dressed in fancy high heeled shoes that greatly restricted any free movement in battle. The men likewise had on slick fancy dress shoes which caused them to slip and fall. This is because they never worked to have their feet shod with the gospel of peace, and were more concerned with worldly things and success than pleasing God and carrying the gospel to others. Some were without shoes at all because they had never been taught to share the gospel, and believed this was the job of the pastors, or that sinners would simply come to their church buildings

Many were trying to fight with their wooden sword in one hand and with the other were holding onto their pants to keep them from falling down around their feet. This was because they did not have the Belt of Truth in place to hold them up. Indeed, they had never studied the Bible for themselves, and did not know the Word of God, and lived according to their own desires, disregarding God’s clear commands to guide them in truth and righteousness and spiritual warfare.

Most knew nothing at all about spiritual warfare, nor had they studied or memorized the scriptures giving God’s people the authority they need in warring with demons or spiritual rulers of darkness. Most had been taught in their churches that Christians were completely protected against all curses and demons so there was no need for spiritual warfare. Some held up a Bible in front of them believing the Bible would shield them from the swords of the demons. The demons just laughed and with one swipe of their swords chopped off their hands and sent the Bibles flying uselessly. Once again, this is because God’s Word tells that the “sword of the Holy Spirit is God’s Word.” These people had never studied God’s Word for themselves and knew essentially nothing about it, or how to use God’s Word in battle. They believed all they needed was to listen to their pastors and maybe their Sunday school teachers. (Psalm 119:11, see below) Thus, their Bibles were useless because they did not know what was in them except for a few verses they thought guaranteed them everything they wanted: health, wealth, success, etc. There is nowhere in God’s Word that says to hold up our Bible as a shield, we are to use the Shield of Faith in battle.

Most Christians are also taught just the first part of Isaiah 54:17 which says: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” However they overlook the rest of that same verse that makes it clear the Christians also have to fight. That verse goes on to say, “And every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.” Christians have to FIGHT as well.

Many called out for their pastors to protect them, or called upon the Lord for protection from the demons. God’s answer to them was, “I have given you all authority over the demons in My Son’s name, and provided you with the guidance you need to fight this battle in My Word. Why should I go before you to protect you? I even gave you My armor to protect you and give you victory in this battle. I am protecting your backs, it is your job to take up My authority and fight victoriously against these demons.

Many more simply turned and tried to run from the battlefield. God did not protect them and the demons cut them down quickly. God’s Word tells us, “and after having done all, STAND.” (Eph. 6, see below) There is no provision for retreat in God’s Word! God will protect our backs as we stand firm or go forward in battle, not backwards. God told the retreating Christians that He could not protect their backs because they were running away from the enemy. God thundered: “THERE IS NO RETREAT IN ME!”

All of those struck down by the demons at a minimum turned cold in their relationship with the Lord. Most fell into every sort of sin imaginable. Their children rebelled and their families fell apart, many ending up in divorce. Many who did not receive promises for healing and wealth promised to them by their leaders were accused of not having “enough faith.” They turned bitter, lost their faith altogether and turned away from the Lord. The competition between churches increased to gigantic proportions as did the destructive gossip and destructive behavior of one so-called Christian toward another, causing many more to turn away from the Lord. (1 Corinthians 11:27-30, see below)

Some Christians had read and studied God’s Word, but were never taught or realized the reality of spiritual warfare. For these, the Holy Spirit was able to bring into their minds the scriptures necessary to enable them to put on the full armor of God and to fight victoriously.

Those who had been taught spiritual warfare, who loved the Lord and His Word, and sought to live completely dedicated to Him and to be pleasing to Him, had the full armor of God shinning on them and in their hands, and they were winning great victories over the demons, driving them back and out of their lives. Sadly, they were few in number.

There were a few Christians who knew about spiritual warfare, but their armor was old, rusted and of little use ,and their swords were dull. These had once been enthusiastic about spiritual warfare, but then the cares of the world, the desire for entertainment, and family matters, drew them away from their total commitment to the Lord and their first love. They fought, but most fell victim to the demon soldiers, unless they quickly repented and asked for the Lord’s mercy and returned to their first love and started standing and fighting again. Every person entering the military goes through a thing called basic training. One of the first things they learn is how to clean and keep their weapons and armor in top shape, and readily available.

Ephesians 6:12-18

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

2 Timothy 2:1-4

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus . . . You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal [physical] but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing [thought] that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

1 Corinthians 11:27-30

“Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.”

Psalm 119:11

“Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.”

Matthew 10:34

Jesus said: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” “Sword” is used in the spiritual sense.

Please read and pray about this and share it with others.
