Over 400 church leaders in the United States and Canada could resign today (Sunday) because of their involvement with adultery website Ashley Madison.
This is the assessment of Ed Stetzer, who was writing in Christianity Today: “Based on my conversations with leaders from several denominations in the U.S. and Canada, I estimate that at least 400 church leaders (pastors, elders, staff, deacons, etc.) will be resigning Sunday.”
“This is a significant moment of embarrassment for the church—and it should be. ”
Although the number of church leaders who have been caught by the Ashley Madison list may seem significant, Stetzer notes that the “majority are continuing faithfully, obediently in the ministries where God has placed them“.
